Background:

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Team Leader of Environment and Energy Team, the Intern will support formulation of pipelines in the area of Climate Change and Sustainable Energy. This will involve supporting research into key current issue on the topic, and support to development of reports and publications to increase UNDP advocacy and visibility on such issues.

During the period of the internship, the intern will also learn about UNDP’s role in supporting partners in China in this area and be exposed to experiences with in key cooperation programmes. The Intern works in close collaboration with members of the Environment and Energy Team at UNDP.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the overall guidance of the Team Leader of the Energy & Environment Team, the duties of the incumbent include:

  • Assist in the formulation of concept note of climate change pipeline projects;
  • Indentify innovative and effective marketing tools and mechanisms;
  • Conduct background research and provide inputs towards the finalization of the project design;
  • Identify relevant partnerships from the private sector and civil society;
  • Assist E&E colleagues in building strategic partnerships with key donor agencies and private sector;
  • Work with E&E colleagues to develop cluster specific marketing material- i.e. project vignettes, brochures, case studies, web content, etc.
  • Research and share innovative E&E approaches and concepts;
  • Contribute to the overall promotion of E & E’s objectives and best practices;
  • Identify innovative and effective marketing and awareness building tools and mechanisms;
  • Provide additional support as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Current university postgraduate student in Public Administration, Communications, Development Studies, Environmental Sciences, Political and Social Sciences or other relevant fields.
  • Past work experience with NGOs, government, research institutes and development organization is desirable. Experience at the international and/or regional level would be advantageous.
  • Fluency in English and Chinese.
  • Ability to work independently.
