Position: Graphic Design & Website Design Intern

Duty Station: UNDP Office, Beijing, China
Start Date: July 2010
Duration: 3 - 6 months

Background:

In order to enhance the branding of the UNDP China Office, an intern is required to improve the design of the UNDP China website, create web pages and banners/backdrops for special events, design UNDP China promotional items and help manage multimedia files.

The intern will work under the daily supervision of the Communications Officer, and will also receive guidance from the Communications Facilitator/Website Manager.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Improve the design of the UNDP China website and other functional websites
  • Design special web pages and banners for major events or activities
  • Improve corporate templates for UNDP publications, flyers, PowerPoint slides or other materials, as needed
  • Design UNDP China gifts and merchandise as needed
  • Help manage multimedia files on the UNDP Flickr and Youku websites
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education

  • Preferably enrolled in a graduate degree or equivalent in graphic design, website design, photography or a related field.

Skills

  • Familiarity with graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator
  • Good knowledge of website development. Experience working with PHP, MySQL or Flash is an asset
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Sharepoint and Microsoft Access preferred
  • Knowledge of multimedia websites such as Flickr and Youku
  • Ability to work independently

Language Requirements

  • Proficiency in written and oral English and Chinese.

Please note that the UNDP owns the copyright to all final work. The UNDP has the right to distribute or redesign the final work without permission from the author. The intern must hand over all original files to the UNDP prior to the end of their contract.
