Ji Aee, Kim
MSc Student
School of Hotel & Tourism Management
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
I worked as an intern for the Tumen Secretariat, UNDP China from 25 June to 24 August 2007. I am very pleased to have a chance to be one of the UNDP, China interns. It is really a great and precious experience to me. I would like to express my gratefulness to those people who have helped me during my internship. Thank you very much for the Tumen Secretariat, UNDP China, the Peace and Development Foundation and Hong Kong Polytechnic University for offering me such a great opportunity.
I am from Republic of Korea and now a MSc student in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hotel and Tourism Management, studying focus on Convention and Event Management. Fortunately, I saw the program announcement which is UNDP internship in China on our school web-site. When I found that, I was so excited about the opportunity to prepare the meeting and re-branding campaigns for the Tumen program. Because I have working experience of planning meetings and that is what I am studying in Hong Kong.
During my internship, I have assisted in preparation of the 9th Consultative Commission Meeting for Greater Tumen Initiative that is the annual intergovernmental meeting of the member countries ministers of the Tumen? Programme (People’s Republic of China, Democratic People’s Republic Korea, Republic of Korea, Mongolia and Russian Federation). Furthermore, I supported the preparation of an Investment Forum “Greater Tumen Initiative – Greater Business Opportunities”. Both events? will take place in Vladivostok, Russia, from 15 to 16 November 2007.
I was in particular assigned to organize the contacting information of over 500 companies for Investment Forum, Business Advisor Council and Energy Board, prepared and sent out all the invitation materials to the companies and followed them up. I have also provided relative information for the new projects proposal and checked some new reports focusing on our program priority sectors such as Tourism, Environment, Transport, Energy and Investment for the 9th Consultative Commission Meeting. I especially concentrated on Tourism Marketing and Product Development in Northeast Asia. Those project proposals are going to be main issues in the 9th Consultative Commission meeting. With my working and studying experience? in the convention industry, I was able to share some ideas and work smoothly.
In addition, I have worked done re-branding campaigns for the Tumen programme updating Tumen programme’s website and maintaining a network with media and business circle.?? During my assignment at the Tumen Secretariat, I acquired a comprehensive knowledge about the Tumen Programme. I was able to understand the present economic and social climates situations in the member countries of the Tumen Programme..
