History of PDF
PDF was founded in 2004 under the Ordinance 88 of HKSAR in PRC. The initial founders donated their time and finance to support UN’s development goals. On the day of Moon Festival in 2005, PDF’s first 3 Board Members signed an official partnership agreement with the UN’s Resident Representative to China in the UNDP Office in Beijing. The agreement was officially approved by the Legal Department of the UN Headquarters in NYC. PDF became the 2nd formal partner of UNDP after its associated partnership foundation in Washington D. C. In the US. Since then, PDF has grown further and has had cooperation, donation, and internship projects with UNDP and its Tumen Secretariat, UN Volunteer, UN Women, UNAIDS; and via UNRCO in China with UNHCR, FAO, UNFPA, UNESCO, UNICEF, WHO, ESCAP, UNIDO, ICAO, IFAD, UNDSS, UNEP, UNOPS, WFP, UN-Habitat, UN Post.
About the Peace and Development Foundation
The Peace and Development Foundation has sponsored four editions of UN’s Human Development Reports and one of then won a UN prize. Donation also made to disaster relief through UN’s humanitarian and development agencies. It has sponsored nearly two hundred interns, volunteers to varies UN agencies and has formed an alumni network for the past interns who have worked in UN agencies in China, in Mianmar, Thailand, other Asian countries, and Norway. The past interns who have worked in the UN agencies have made donations with PDF Board members for UN Bikes, and silver-iron antivirus masks for distribution to the UN agencies in China.
PDF is a charity listed on Wise Giving organized by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS). WiseGiving is a simple framework for charity disclosure to the public. In particular, it facilitates better understanding between the potential donors and the organizations so as to solicitate funding opportunities.
